A Sincere Advise to Political Surrogates...By Smart Ajaja
The best way to sell a candidate to the electorates is to espouse the
good qualities of that candidate and his positions on critical issues,
and not by attacking his opponents, using unsubstantiated frivolities,
the consequences of which could be fatal if the voters are enlightened
enough to read between the lines.
It is sad that Nigerian
politics is played on the "Ghana must go" mentality rather than
principles, issues and ideologies, and this accounts for why there are
so many fools with money occupying sensitive positions they know nothing
about and what is expected of anybody in those positions.
I
hope the people would be wiser in 2015 by not casting votes based on
emotion associated with allegiance to blood, tribe, religion or
religious denominations, salt, rice beans and Ankara gifts, but on
issues like Healthcare, economy, Job creation and security, Gender
equality and social security etc,
Let's do things differently for a change.

UNDERSTANDING APC IN DELTA STATE *** A Campaign To Project Ogboru’s Image?
Can the newly registered All Peoples Congress, APC, truly upstage the
Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, in Delta State? While many will hasten to
say no, others might be slow in
answering if they consider a recent remark in the media by Chief Frank
Kokori, a former member of the DPP, who was quoted as saying that the
emergence of APC meant the possible death of DPP in Delta State. Well,
the fact is that the DPP still remains the party to beat in Delta State.

CAN WE BE FOOLED ALWAYS?
There are
clear indications that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has come to
break the jinx of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who has been in
power for over fourteen years, with its recent activities. The PDP
who has been in power since 1999 with its first democratic president
General Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, are not willing to hand over power to
any other political party in Nigeria, now, APC is out with the aim of
dethroning PDP.

Jonathan Declares 4 Governors, Including Uduaghan a Presidential Enemy.
A document leak yesterday emanated from the office of the President, titled “Presidential Directives”. The memo which appeared as a surprise in the early hours of yesterday addressed strong presidential issues especially as it concerns the President’s 2015 ambition, declaring Governor Uduaghan of Delta State and four other Governors a presidential enemy that must be embarrassed and disgraced.
The memo which almost sparked protest was quickly denied by Dr Doyin Okupe, a presidential media aide linking it to an opposition blackmail of the President.

2015 GOVERNORSHIP RACE; Senator Pius Akpo Ewerido Empowers His Trusted Aids
In an elaborate and colourful ceremony held on Monday, the 18th of March at his Ekpan office Warri, Senator Akpo Pius Ewerido, the Senator representing Delta Central in the National Assembly, Abuja and a top DPP contender for the gubernatorial ticket for 2015 General election has thanked all his trusted aids who worked for him in the last Senatorial election and have remained loyal to him. He dished out cars to these men he believes have shown so much commitment and dedication to his political course.
The Senator who is relying on Delta Central, the Urhobos, to realize his 2015 political ambition had to dole out cash, 17 Gulf and 4 Toyota Camry cars to each of his political aids in each of the Local Governments in Delta Central in appreciation of their dogged commitment to his political ambition.
Briefing beneficiaries, the Democratic Peoples Part (DPP) Delta Central chairman, Chief Henry Olori said the exercise is in continuation of the Senator’s empowerment scheme in fulfillment of his electioneering promises to the electorate.
According to Chief Olori, as against the current 21 cars being given out in the first batch, the extra, making it a total of 35, would be given out in the second batch.
In his reaction, a chieftain of Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), Mr. Igoruh Onobaka, lambasted the Senator, saying he promised to install factories in some cities in Delta central, now he is given out cars instead of the factories he promised during election. It should be noted that these type of cars cannot even be used for commercial purposes.
While we regard this as a stark rape on our fragile democracy, we wish to call on Deltans especially Delta Central (the Urhobos), to be wary of politicians who use money meant for the development of their communities to buy cars for their political aids.

Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan |
Delta 2015: Festus keyamo Declares.
Popular Lagos Baby Lawyer, Barrister Festus keyamo has declared his interest to contest the Delta state 2015 gubernatorial election. It was reported that, he had an impressive support from across the state with Deltans well represented in all the Senatorial district in the event which took place in his Warri country home.
In a chat with Delta Decide, Barrister Festus keyamo maintained that he was not announcing to join the race because he wants to make noise or be seen, but he was joining the race to create a new history for Delta State and its People.
He maintained that the idea of a few group of political thieves coming to appoint a Governor for Delta State instead of electing would no longer work as he has come also to give a hand and transform the system.
He further maintained that he would be surprising those who do not believe in his intention, speculating that he cannot just come from his Legal practice to become Governor. He said he would work very very hard to work out his intention as Comrade Adams Oshiomole of Edo State did and ensure victory.
Although Festus Keyamo has not declared for any political party, Delta Forces United is just a platform to push this aspirations.
Panic In Govt House As Uduaghan Sets to Reshuffle Cabinet
There is serious panic among Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan commissioners and personal aides as speculation making the rounds disclosed recently that It was rumoured yesterday that
the Governor is considering a cabinet reshuffle this week.
This is said to be coming as a strategy by the governor to re-position his government to be able to actualize his promise to rapidly develop Delta State before 2015 when his
tenure as Governor will end.
The reshuffle is said to revolve round virtually all political appointments especially
commissioner and Special Assistant/ Adviser positions. It was specifically stated that the Governor would drop those whose impact has truly not been felt in the administration.
As at the time of filling this report, there was tension among political appointees as they call their Godfathers and helpers to lobby their inclusion in the new team.
According to one of the Governor’s Special Adviser yesterday who spoke to us on
condition of anonymity, he maintained that the rumour of cabinet reshuffle has been in the circle since last year and truly hope it would soon be over. “ ALL IS WELL”, he stated.

Delta 2015: Anioma Group Restates Desire to Produce Governor …. Warns against attempt to destabilize Aniomas
By Oghenekevwe Laba
Group under the aegis of Anioma Voice Worldwide, an umbrella body of Anioma people of Delta State of Nigeria, has restated its determination to work towards the emergence of an Anioma indigene as the next governor of the state when the incumbent, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, finishes his term in 2015.
The group also warned against any calculated attempt to dustabilise the people of Anioma.
Reinstating their desire to produce the governor of Delta State come 2015, the group in a statement signed by Akamesike Manuel O’coney, Chief Messenger; Comrade Marcus Enudi, Delta State Chief Messenger; Comrade Victorio Essem, National Public Relation Messenger and Comrade Smart Ajaja, International Relations Messenger made available to Urhobo Today, the group warned against what it calls “a calculated ploy to destabilize the STRONG and TOWERING United Anioma dream of being a responsible part of governance in a state that they are a bonafide indigene.”
The group described as laughable the argument that Anioma has the capital and so cannot and should not produce a governor.
“That will be tantamount to also declaring that in a State like Edo, no Bini man must be governor since they have the capital! But this was a futile attempt at catching the air in his grand design, for never have there been seen or expected in the state in the past, this unalloyed Anioma unity of which some uninformed brother ethnic nations of Delta state are jittery about now and which they have to contend with,” the statement argued. signed by Akamesike Manuel O’coney, Chief Messenger; Comrade Marcus Enudi, Delta State Chief Messenger; Comrade Victorio EssEm, National Public Relation Messenger; and Comrade Smart Ajaja, International Relations Messenger.
It condemned alleged moves in some quarters to disunite the Anioma, reaffirming that the Anioma unity is not built on the agenda of 2015 mandate and definitely not negotiable.

COURT DECLARES DELTA LAWMAKER’S SEAT VACANT FOR DECAMPING
IN what can be described as a watershed judgment, a Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State has ordered the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Victor Ochei to declare the Ukwani Constituency presently being occupied by Dr. Alphonsus Ojo vacant.
Ojo’s offence was that he decamped on September 28 last year from the opposition Democratic People’s Party (DPP), under whose ticket he was elected in the April 2011 election, to the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Irked by the betrayal, in suit No. FAC/ASB/CS/129/12, the DPP and one Mr. Chukwuma Dafiakpaku had dragged the House, Ochei, Ojo and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to court, demanding that the lawmaker’s seat be declared vacant in line with Section 109 of the 1999 Constitution.
In her judgment, which lasted about 10 minutes, Justice CMA Olatoregun-Ishola ruled that the Speaker must compel the embattled lawmaker to vacate his seat, as his decampment was not in order.
Quoting copiously from the Constitution, Justice Olatoregun-Ishola disagreed with Ojo, who, among other reasons, said that he left the party for the PDP as a result of serious internal crisis and factionalism, which was tearing the party apart.
According to her, Section 109 (g) of the Constitution unambiguously stated that: “A member of a House of Assembly shall vacate his seat in the House, if being a person whose election to the House was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period, which the House was elected; provided that his membership of the political party is not as a result of division of the party of which he was previously a member or a merger of two or more political parties or factions by one of which he was previously sponsored.”
She said that even if there was a crisis in the DPP, it has not in any way led to the break-up of the party, as it was still in existence with neither a faction nor a splinter group.
The presiding Judge said: “The third defendant is caught by the extant provision of Section 109 of the Constitution. I am under the mandatory obligation to declare his seat vacant. Consequently the seat of the Ukwani Constituency has been declared vacant. The Speaker has been ordered to declare the seat vacant. INEC should conduct another election.”
In his reaction to the Judgment he said, ”I give all glory to God Almighty, I still remain a member of the House as a stay of execution of Judgment has been filed. I will still deliver on my promises of good governance and development/accountability to Ukwuani.” He said.

2011 Asaba Airport Recruitment Remains Inconclusive. List of Successful candidates with Austin Ayemidejor
It was revealed yesterday, about one year and seven months after the conduct of Asaba Airport recruitment test that Governor
Uduaghan refused the list of successful candidate and the list has since been with the State tender board Chairman and Airport Director, Mr Austin Ayemidejor.
The recruitment test took place in all the local council areas on 20th August 2011 under the supervision of Ayemidejor.
The reason for the Governors refusal to accept the list of successful candidate according to one of Ayemidejor’s aide, is due
to the Governor’s fear of paying salaries maintaining that the Airport has not fully kicked off and Do not generate revenue at the moment.
The aide craved anonymity for fear of being sacked. He further maintained that it is not certain whether the list with his boss will still be used if the Governor takes a decision on the recruitment as it has stayed longer than necessary with his boss.
As applicants wait patiently, the recruitment is still underway as maintained by the Government, and to Deltans it remains inconclusive.
