DELTA 2015; Elder Godsday Declares His Interest……As Reactions Tray His Declaration

Elder Godsday Orubebe
Elder Godsday Peter Orubebe, the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs has publicly declared his intention to run for Delta State 2015 governorship election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Hon minister made this known to the people of Ovuoire community in Ethiope East LGA, and Deltans in general at a condolence visit to the families of Alams Barovbe, on the death of their father -High Chief Lord ALAMS Barovbe (JP), the "Okakuro" of Agbon in Ovu Inland Community of Ethiope East LGA Delta State. Though, it didn’t come as a surprise to most Deltants, as it has been rumoured long before now that he is eyeing the number one seat.

Deliberating on the Oneness and continuous development and transformation of Delta State, Elder Orubebe spoke in his words "Together we are here to support the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan and also together one of us here will become the Governor of Delta State come 2015”.

“All the Ethnic Groups must have a taste of Governorship, but this is the time of the Ijaw People. Together we will support the Leadership of the PDP in the State. Likewise we will also garner support for the governorship aspiration of someone amongst us here”. He further seized the opportunity to present before the People of Ovuoire and Deltans in general his intentions to Run for the 2015 Guber Race in the State which was greeted with cheers from the massive crowd that beseeched the Country Home of High Chief Alams to give the Honorable Minister a rousing welcome.

However, reactions and counter reactions within the state PDP have continued to tray his declaration as those PDP members royal to Ibori/Uduaghan who are relying on ‘ANIOMA AGENDA’ see him as a big threat towards realizing their own political ambition and have started cooking up different stories to bring the Hon Minister down, whilst those in support say anybody is free to contest as it enshrined in the Nigerian constitution; stressing that besides there was no written agreement but only mutual understanding on who is eligible to contest for Governor.
