There are
clear indications that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has come to
break the jinx of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who has been in
power for over fourteen years, with its recent activities. The PDP
who has been in power since 1999 with its first democratic president
General Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, are not willing to hand over power to
any other political party in Nigeria, now, APC is out with the aim of
dethroning PDP.
Nigeria has been under a non-democratic
government were (transparency, equality, fairness and the rule of law is
lacking. The infrastructural development pace is crawling, education
has been crippled, sporting activities is down the drain) governed by
‘’people democratic leaders’’. One would want to think that Nigeria is
under a spell. Do we call it democracy when the government is for the
few by the selected few? Or do we call it democracy when the government
cannot affect the lives of it citizens positively? There is nothing
democratic about Nigeria, there is nothing democratic about PDP, there
is neither the practice of direct or indirect democracy, all we have and
practice in Nigeria is OLIGARCHY.
Ahead of 2015, as we
prepare for the forthcoming general elections, the APC is working tooth
and nail to dethrone PDP, claiming it is the perfect choice for change.
However, after defeating PDP, what next? Are we going to see a Midas
touch in the situation of the country? What does the APC have to offer?
Are they not the same people from these merger parties that make up APC?
Ah! Ah! Who do they want to deceive again?
It is not all
about defeating the strongest political party in Nigeria; rather, it is
about what APC will offer to Nigerians to improve our economic, social,
and political well-being, giving us an alchemist’s touch. Are they going
to delude us into voting for their party and then become the worst
nightmare we have ever had?
2015 is some stone throw away from
us, let us not cast our destinies into the ballot boxes for mere two
thousand naira (#2,000).
Let us not be carried away by what
these political-talk actives present to us. Many of them are chips off
the old block. APC and Nigerians, the party of the moment, are they just
going to dethrone PDP and enthrone moneybags? Or dethrone PDP and
enthrone noisemakers? Don’t come to us with same old stories: ‘I will
give you free education, I will construct good roads, I will pay more
attention to the youth, I will curb unemployment,’ ‘‘I will, I will…’’,
enough of such ‘I wills’, they are boring us, present to us credible
candidates.
Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?
Are we to continue casting our votes for people who have looted our
money over the years, enriching themselves and their family members,
amass our wealth and come to us with their sugar-coated tongues giving
us peanuts to vote them back into office, even the roads within their
jurisdictions which they play with their posh cars the ones to their
houses, churches, even back to their offices are dilapidated and yet all
they do is donate millions of naira to churches, for programmes and
ceremonies showing their affluence and sometimes as means of
campaigning, doing nothing about the roads? God forbid!
Don’t
vote for PDP; don’t vote for APC, ACN, DPP or any other political party
in Nigeria, vote for credibility, ‘shine your eyes’ and don’t vote for
political gurus, those who have been in power for a while now and
nothing to show for it, they have done nothing tangible. Just as the
bible says ‘‘taste all spirit to see if it is of God’’ so like-wise,
evaluate every political aspirant to see what they can do, what they
have achieved/done, what they are ready to offer, they can’t keep on
using us as cat’s paws to attain their selfish desires. For God’s sake,
when will our political parties present to us credible candidates not
rewarding political thugs?
Choose you this day Nigerians whom you
want to represent you, whom you know and are sure is capable, faithful
and above all credible to lead, choose leaders not moneybags, devourer
and talk actives who only make noise ‘‘an empty barrel they say makes
the loudest noise’’ vote for who will save us from the claws of bad
governance, NIGERIANS DECIDE, DELTANS DECIDE. !!!
