HURIDE Flays Obiano Over Failed Rehabilitation of Bad Roads in Anambra

Governor Willie Obiano's alleged failure to fulfill his promises to rehabilitate all the failed roads in the State on or before December 2019, has elicited strident criticism from Human Right, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders' Foundation (HURIDE).

The group in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka, the state capital,  expressed surprise that inspite of the firm promises by Governor to rehabilitate the roads, not up to 20 percent of the  failed roads in Onitsha and environms were retouched.

Said the group"if the roads in critical areas like  Onitsha and environs were not worked on, you should better imagine what happened to  failed roads in other  parts of the State".

HURIDE Lauds AntiCult Commander for releasing 13 Suspected Cultists

The Human Rights, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders Foundation ( HURIDE ) has commended the Commander of Anti Cult team of Anambra State Police Command, CSP Christopher Bassey,  for releasing 13 suspected cultists who were later found not to  be members of cult groups.

The chairman of Board of Trustees (BoT),of HURIDE, Dede Uzor A. Uzor, said they were impressed for during the   unconditional release of the suspects without collecting a kobo from their family members as was the case  with other officers.

National Assembly, Promoters of Despotism Says Right Group

The members of National Assembly have been described as "agents and promoters of  autocracy" in Nigeria for reviving the dead "Hate Speech"  bill, which passed Second reading at the upper chamber few days ago.

Responding to the controversial bill meant to regulate social media in Nigeria, The Human Right, Liberty Access, and Peace Defenders Foundation (HURIDE), condemned it in totality and  its resuscitation by the agents of executive organ in the National Assembly.

In a statement in Abuja on Monday by the chairman, Board of Trustees of HURIDE, Dede Uzor A. Uzor,who said that the reactivation of the bill was clear indication that members of National Assembly themselves are purportedly despots disguised as Democrats.

Ndigbo Unity Assembly Lauds CP, Oyi DPO for Recovering Missing Children

An Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ndigbo Unity Assemblly (NUA), has commended the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr John Abang, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Oyi Division, Mr.Sam Nwachukwu, and others  for their
commitment to fight child trafficking and theft in the State.

Speaking when the group paid the DPO courtesy call in his office at Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area of the State, the President of the group, Dede Uzor A Uzor, said they came particularly to commend him in his role in recovering the two school pupils of Central School, Awkuzu in Oyi Local Government Area.

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has  been called to as a matter of urgency repair the Upper Iweka section of Onitsha-Owerri Express Road which has become a death trap to the users of the road.

The Human Right, Liberty Access, and Peace Defenders Foundation (HURIDE), in a statement in Onitsha, the Anambra State commercial hub, decries the deplorable State of the road, where a lot of lives have been lost and vehicles fallen.

In the statement signed by the chairman, Board of Trustees ( BoT) and the Secretary Barr. Noel Udoji, HURIDE also decried the rather lackadaisical attitude of the Governor towards rehabilitating  Federal roads in the State.

They said his claim that it is a Federal road and he would not be reimbursed if he rehabilitate the roads,,  does not hold water because 90 percent of the users of the are Anambra people who he swore to provide good governance for.

The Human Right, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders Foundation (HURIDE), has Condemned President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government over his continuous multiple taxation of Nigerians.

The human right body in a statement issued in FCT Abuja,the capital, said the indirect taxation was obnoxious, ill timed,anti people, sacrilegious, evil, lack of economic vision and therefore cannot stand.

In the statement signed by the chairman of Board of Trustees of HURIDE, Dede Uzor A. Uzor, the group said the taxation would increase the sufferings, hunger and poverty of Nigerians instead of generating prosperity as was promised during president Muhammed Buhari's general election campaign.

The Federal and State Governments in South East have been asked to declare State of emergency on roads in the zone.

The Human Rights, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders Foundation (HURIDE), in a statement in Owerri, the Imo State capital called on both Federal and State Governments in South East to take drastic,palliative and urgent action to address the problem of bad road in the zone.

According to the Chairman, Board of Trustees of HURIDE, Dede Uzor A. Uzor, the zone has the worst road networks in the country.

The Human Right, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders Foundation (HURIDE) has appealed to the Anambra State Police Command to as a matter of urgency come to the aid of the pupils of Police Children school in Onitsha.

HURIDE said in a statement made available to news men in Onitsha that the Command should help in completing the children's classroom block which has been under construction but abandoned for more than one year now.

According to our discreet investigation has compelled the children to take refuge in the PCRC hall at the Central Police Station  (CPS),Onitsha, where they are presently receiving  their lessons.

But things have not been easy for the children and their teachers, said Dede Uzor A. Uzor, who is the chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), of HURIDE,said that, they  were  being interrupted and disrupted during PCRC meetings and other engagements which always led to suspension of classes.

HURIDE after its crucial national executive meeting in Abuja, called for the immediate arraignment of the soldiers directly and remotely involved in the murder of the Policemen on national assignment.

The HURIDE boss said it was embarrassing that inspite of the killings by the Fulani Herdsmen across the country , President Buhari has failed to take concrete and drastic action to halt the killings.

He said said that the President's inability to stem the tide of this killings was a clear indication that he was not fit to rule the country.

The Human Rights, Liberty Access, and Peace Defenders Foundation (HURIDE), has condemned the plan by the newly appointed Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroluem Company (NNPC), to  increase fuel pump price in the country.

In a press statement issued in Onitsha, Anambra state by Dede Uzor A Uzor, the Chairman Board of Trustees (B.o.T) HURIDE and National Publicity Secretary, Campaign for Democracy (CD), this  increase amount to a plot to increase the  suffering of Nigerian  masses of this country.

ATF Condemns Anambra Government Undue Interference In Market Leadership

Traders and groups in Anambra State have continued to condemn the planned imposition of Caretaker Committee on the umbrella Market Association in the State, Amalgamated Markets Traders Association of Anambra State  (AMATAS).

Anambra Traders Forum  (ATF), which has raised alarm over plot to plunge the the markets in the State  into crisis by the State Government.

Recall that AMATAS had fixed June 5, 2019 to hold her state general executive election after the expiration of the tenure of Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo, who is now House of Representatives -elect.
But the State Government through the Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Investment, Dr. Christian Madubuko, cancelled the election, stating that the State Government would impose Caretaker Committee for the traders in Anambra State.

Uzor, by some commanders of Anambta State Traffic Management Agency (ATMA) and Willie Workforce (WWF) for alerting the State Government over their alleged criminal and extortionist conducts.

In a press conference addressed by the HURIJE's Legal Secretary, Barr. Ada Obinna Edozie, in Onitsha,she said that since Dede Uzor raised the issue of illegal activities of ATMA which led to the removal of the Commander by the Commissioner for Transport, Hon Uchenna Okafor, and overhauled the section of the agency, he been receiving threatening calls.

The Inspector-General of Police has been asked to release a social media activist, Mr. Stanley Chira, popularly known in social media circle as Oderaigbo or ApgaAlaigbo immediately or charge him to Court.

The Human Rights Liberty Access and Peace Defenders Foundation (HURIJE) has asked the Anambra State Police  Command to implement its decision to  impound political party and unmarked vehicles in the State as from 1st June, 2019.

The alleged assault  which took place Friday night night  according to Agbili was unleashed on him by Policemen  who were guarding the  road that passes in front of Anambra State Police Command, Awka.

Group Decries Governor Obiano' s Constant Trip Abroad

Human Rights, Liberty Access and Defenders Foundation (HURIJE), a human right and pro-democracy organisation has decried the constant travels abroad by Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State.

Addressing the press in Onitsha yesterday, the chairman BOT of the rights group, Dede Uzor A, Uzor,  said the visits have slowed down the pace of governance in the State.

He said the absence of the governor has created insecurity in the State which has resulted in the brutal murder of Nimo President General in Njikoka Local Government Area of the State, Chief Anthony Igboka and the alleged muder of about seven farmers in Ansmbra West by  Fulani Herdsmen some weeks back.

AMATAS Not Behind Street Trading In Onitsha - ATF

The Anambra State Traders Consultative Forum (ATF), has flayed some traders in Onitsha, especially in Ochanja market for making "unverifiable, unfounded and false allegations against the leadership of the Almagamated Traders Association of Anambra State (AMATAS).

A trader at Ochanja market had alleged that AMATAS leadership was behind Street trading at Ziks Avenue in Onitsha.
