Police Arraign 10 For Digital Crime In Onitsha

The Police in Onitsha, Anambra State have arranged 10 persons over their involvement in different cybercrime.

The Divisional Police  Officer (DPO), for Fegge Police Station, Onitsha in Anambra' State, Rabiu Garba, said other cybercrime cases are being investigated by his men.

Garba,  a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), raised the alarm over the increasing cyber related crime in Onitsha and its environs, but stated that his station has been working hard to curtail this unfortunate development.

Gazette Onitsha River Port Now, Stakeholders Urge FG

Federal Government has been urged to immediately complete the process of gazetting the Onitsha River Port so that  it will commence operation.

The call was made by the participants of the 12th  edition of the "The Perspective", an annual lecture series of Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Industry,Mines and Agriculture (ONICCIMA), held at Sharon House, GRA, Onitsha.

The President of the chamber, Mr. Donatus Ebubeogu, who fired the first salvo in his welcome address said the  Federal Government should as a matter of priority complete the gazetting of the Onitsha River Port for the Port to commence operation.

An Onitsha businessman, Chief Samson Umejidike Ifedibia, has dragged the Inspector-General of Police (IG) and five others including the Anambra State Police Commissioner, Mr.Mustapha Dauda Uhra to court for infringing on his fundamental human rights.

Other Police Officers involved in the suit are the Assistant Inspector- General of Police (AIG), Zone 9, Umuahia, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Lagos, Anthony Onyia, and Ikechukwu Umeaku, business men at Bridgehead, Onitsha, Anambra State.

Four Jostle to Replace Ezenwankwo as Anambra Traders elect New PG June 5

Four  top traders of Anambra State market politics are in contention to replace the outgoing president-general of Amalgamated Traders Association of Anambra State (AMATAS), Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo.

Chief Nwankwo who is completing his second tenure by June  has been elected to represent the Orumba North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The contenders according to sources close to AMATAS are the the President of Onitsha zone of AMATAS and Public Relations Officer of the traders' umbrella body, Chief Vincent Ifeme.
He was also former chairman of Marine Modern market, Onitsha.

AMATAS Not Behind Street Trading In Onitsha - ATF

The Anambra State Traders Consultative Forum (ATF), has flayed some traders in Onitsha, especially in Ochanja market for making "unverifiable, unfounded and false allegations against the leadership of the Almagamated Traders Association of Anambra State (AMATAS).

A trader at Ochanja market had alleged that AMATAS leadership was behind Street trading at Ziks Avenue in Onitsha.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Commerce. Trade and Wealth Creation, Dr. Christian Madubuko, has carried out his threat to remove any erring and corrupt market leader in the State.

Dr. Madubuko acting true to his threat last weekend removed the chairman of Ogbaru Main Market, Chief Victor Nwawuzie for alleged corruption.

Chief Nwawuzie who was re-arrested last week after his initial arrest some few weeks ago was said have been forced to resign after several days in detention room of  the Directorate of State Security Services (DSS).

A suspected 28 year old  homosexual, Mr Anthony Chukwuemeka Esimoneze, narrowly  escaped being lynched yesterday at Fegge, Onitsha in Anambra State.

Trouble  was said have started  for the homosexual when he was caught  stark naked in homosexuality with an  unidentified male student who took to his heel when a food vendor went to ease herself at a hiding corner,in a motor mechanic workshop.

The food vendor was said to have seen  them in the act and alerted the neighbours and passers-by who came and arrested Esimoneze.

Okada Ban Can't Stop Crime - Market Leader

As the July1, 2018 deadline for the ban of Okada to take effect draws close,  Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has been urged to reconsider his decision to ban Okada in  Onitsha.

The chairman of  Ogbaru Plastic Dealers in  Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State who made the  plea in an interview with newsmen in Onitsha said contrary to the perception of many that the ban on Okada will reduce crime,  it will not bring down crime as expected.

He said ban on Okada in Onitsha will no doubt affect the business in the commercial city especially his market because they use Okada riders to waybill their goods.

No crisis in my Market- Onitsha Electronics Chairman ... Denies N110m Fraud

The chairman of Electronics Dealers  International Market, Onitsha, Chief Izuchukwu Okoye,  has said  there  has been no single crisis in his Market since the inception of his administration.

Okoye who was refuting  erroneous publications in the media against his person as the chairman  of Electronics Market said the allegation of diversion of N110m was not only unfounded but baseless.

Okoye said the allegations of  crisis or fraud  in the market only exist in the imagination of those who made it.

NBA Wants Area Commander Transferred For Humiliating Judge...Gives 7-Day Ultimatum

The Idemili branch of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in Anambra State has demanded for the immediate transfer of the the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of the newly created Idemili Area Command, Mr . Ekeocha for insulting, humiliating and intimidation of a Judge in the  State Judiciary, Justice, Peace N.T. Otti.

In a petition to the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Umar, the  Idemili NBA asked that Ekeocha should tender unreserved apology to the Judge not later than seven days  from the day of  delivery of  this petition to the Commissioner of Police.

Justice Otti, according to the petition signed by Hon S.O Chukwukelu and Chike Okoye, was in the morning of June 26, 2018, at Ugwunwasike in Ogidi, headquarters of Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State, embarrassed and harassed by ACP Ekeocha who blocked the Judge's car for covering the plate number.
