A couple of days ago Urhobo Nation was thrown into quagmire as the President General of the Urhobo Progress Union ( UPU ) Olorogun Moses Taiga in collaboration with two (2) of his excos sworn-in a 5 member executive of the Youth wing of UPU to the detriment of Urhobo Nation as well as grotesque to other Nationalities in Delta State .
While a few allies cum cronies of the purported newly sworn in UPU youth wing exco were seen jubilating and defending this course that is anomalous to the Peace ,growth and development of Urhobo Nation let us understand that the entire world is not only watching but are laughing at us.
We have become a laughing stuck and reduced to rubbles even though it is believed that the Urhobo Nation is the 5th largest Ethnic Nationality in Nigeria and the majority in Delta state due to the fact that the apex body of Urhobo Nation ,the UPU has been struggling with faction since the days of Chief Tuesday Onoge , painfully we had thought that the emergence of Olorogun Moses Taiga would proffer solution to the disunited situation in UPU occassioned by vested interest .
But it seems our hopes has been dashed to the wind as under his leadership the unity we crave for in Urhobo Nation will never be achieved .
Olorogun Moses Taiga choice of consulting the twenty four (24) Kings of Urhobo Nation to send two (2) names each to constitute the delegate / aspirants that would form the executives of the youth wing of the Urhobo Progress Union awoken our hopes that he is ready to unite Urhobo Nation by first getting the youth structure right .
The process began in March 2017 when the Olorogun Moses Taiga led UPU executive wrote letters to the 24 Kings of Urhobo Nation to send 2 names of youths whom would form the executive of the youth wing of UPU ,the idea was to ensure every Kingdom in Urhobo Land has a representative in the executive of the youth wing of UPU .
The process continued when the Moses Taiga led UPU executive sent one (1) form each to the 24 Kings in Urhobo Land to nominate one person from the 2 names they had earlier projected from their Kingdom to be part of the executives of the youth wing of UPU .
By implication , the person so nominated can now contest for any elective position in the executive of the youth wing of UPU while those whom lost during the election get lower position and ex-officio respectively.
The 2 names nominated from the 24 Kings then gave the youth wings 48 delegates who were meant to vote in the executive of the youth wing of UPU , it was this rigorous but free ,fair and transparent electoral process that brought in the Comr Omoko led youth wing executive of the UPU .
Comr. Nicholas Omoko pulled a total of 32 votes against his opponent Jolly Ememu Ogbe who scored just 8 votes making it a total of 40 delegates that took part in the election as Orhua-rivie Abraka did not take part in the election while 6 delegates did not make themselves available for the voting due to the Option A4 nature which requires queuing behind the candidate of one's choice.
In may 2017 the olorogun Moses Taiga led UPU executive set up an electoral committee headed by Chief Isaacs Itebu ,National Legal Adviser of the UPU and the committee conducted the election , sworn in the Comr Omoko led UPU youth wing executive whose tenure will elapse on the 22nd of July ,2020 therefore the reason behind the supposed attempted abrupt end of the Comr Omoko led executive of the UPU youth wing and the kangaroo inauguration of just 5 members as executive of the UPU youth wing against 24 excos representing the 24 Kingdoms on the 8th July, 2020 is calling for serious concern .
As an Urhobo son , I decided to do my due diligence to know what transpired between the Comr Omoko led UPU youth wing executive and the PG Olorogun Moses Taiga and the following was my findings .
There is a certain amount of money the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) pays Delta State Ethnic Youths from the 5 Oil Areas of Urhobo, Ijaw, Isoko, Itsekiri and Ndowka and Urhobo Nation gets her fair share but the UPU youth wing doesn't benefit from this said money untill the embattled President of the UPU youth wing wadded into the issue and Governor Okowa graciously heeded their cry .
This said amount of money is paid monthly to all the Nationality youths in Delta State Oil Nation and UPU youth wing now get her share too .
It was gathered that Chief West Adehor suggested to the PG of UPU ,Olorogun Moses Taiga that the UPU youth wing executive is too bogus that they should reduce the numbers to accommodate only five (5) persons so that the PG can keep 50% of the money that comes to the UPU youth wing monthly while their newly sworn in Executives will keep the rest .
It was gathered that the PG fell for the suggestion of Chief west Adehor and mandated him him to singlehandedly hand picked the following as the UPU youth wing executives and inaugurated same without the knowledge of the following UPU top ranking officials: 1st Vice President General of the UPU ,Olorogun Capt. Anthony Onogharigho, UPU 3rd Vice President General Hon Keston Ojighoro, Chief (Barr) Isaacs Itebu, UPU National Legal Adviser, UPU Treasurer Chief Abel Opuidi, UPU Auditor Chief Peter Obodo, UPU Financial Secretary, Chief William, and other UPU executives of over 20 people.
The following are the purported UPU youth wing executives
1. President : Mr Ovie Ebireri from Ewu in Ughelli ( Former Vice President resident)
2. Secretary : Joseph Adjari ( Secretary )
3. Okoh Francis ( Deputy President)
NB
Chief Okoh Onoriode Solomon was supposed to be the official Vice President but they argued that he is now a chief and can not act as a youth in UPU so he was replaced by his brother Okoh Francis but the funny movie is , Chief Okoh Onoriode Solomon is the one who attends meetings and other functions in the capacity of the Vice President while Okoh Francis is the paper Deputy President.

From the foregoing , it was only the PG ,Olorogun Moses Taiga ,Chief Francis Ifie and Chief Iweweh that cooked the plans suggested by Chief West Adehor and also took part in the inauguration of the Kangaroo UPU youth wing executive to the oblivion of other UPU executives who saw the news on Facebook to their dismay .
This narrative is given so that Urhobo Nation would know what has played out so that they can also do their due diligence .
The action of Olorogun Moses Taiga in the supposed inaugurated Kangaroo UPU executive has shown that Urhobo Nation is still in perpetual dilemma and our Unity won't be achieved as a people through the Moses Taiga's leadership.
There are so many questions begging for answers which we shall ask in our next article coming your way soon .
