HURIDE Flays Obiano Over Failed Rehabilitation of Bad Roads in Anambra

Gov Obiano
Governor Willie Obiano's alleged failure to fulfill his promises to rehabilitate all the failed roads in the State on or before December 2019, has elicited strident criticism from Human Right, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders' Foundation (HURIDE).

The group in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka, the state capital,  expressed surprise that inspite of the firm promises by Governor to rehabilitate the roads, not up to 20 percent of the  failed roads in Onitsha and environms were retouched.

Said the group"if the roads in critical areas like  Onitsha and environs were not worked on, you should better imagine what happened to  failed roads in other  parts of the State".

HURIDE in the statement signed by its chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Dede Uzor A. Uzor and Mazi Unah Zack Unah, the chief media officer said it was incomprehensible that the Governor could not attend to the failed roads which would boast economic activities during this yuletide but allegedly has the luxury to commit a whopping sum of over N1.26 billion naira for a mere decoration of the State this season.

He said that it was unfortunate that even the few failed roads  that were scrapped could not be patched or undertake palliative rehabilitation, hence the people were  not only suffering from bad roads but the  dusty environment.

"It has reached the stage Governor should be serious with Anambra people. In the next few years, he will hit the roads to beg for votes.

The people cannot be deceived again. The time of fake promises is all over", he said.
Continuing the group warned " no politician can deceive us again with empty promises. Obiano should remember Bayelsa. It is his performance that will give his party victory in the next governorship election in 2021".

Some of the bad portion still begging for attention are Oguta Road,  New Market by  Vein Road, Bida road,  Obodo-Ukwu road, Creek road, Zik Avenue, PortHacourt road,Miss Elems street, Ochanja road about, Orlu by Arondizugu street,Ede road okpoko, Venn road South, Niger Street among many others.
The group called on the  Governor to order his aides and contractors back to sites as from first week of January 2020 to at least complete the rehabilitation of the   roads they scrapped,Dede Uzor advised.
