Governor Obiano Set To Tackle Flooding in Ogbaru

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has concluded plan to solve once and for all the problem of flooding ravaging some communities in Ogbaru Local Government Area of the State.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the  Local Government Area, Comrade Arinzechukwu Awogu,who revealed  this,  weekend  said the settlements and communities that will benefit from the desalting of Sacamori that collect flood around the area include Okpoko, Idemili, Okoti, Odorobber, Ohita and Atani.

The Anambra State Government in a bid to sanitise  the collection of levies from Keke owners and riders in State has banned about four categories of levies paid to youths  of different communities in the State.
The levies which hitherto became burden to  the Keke operators were Onitsha Ado n' Idu, Nkpor Obodo dike,Ogbaru di uso, loading and offloading levy and load carrying ticket.

The Coordinator of the Unified Tricycles Owners and Riders Association of Anambra State in Onitsha North Local Government Area of  the State, Mr Lucas Nweze, who lauded Obiano over the decision to ban the levies said they now pay N450 per Keke per day.

He said out of the amount the State Government's share was N350 per Keke every day and the remaining N100 was used to settle other miscellaneous interests.

He expressed appreciation to the Governor and the Commissioner for Transport, Chief  Uchenna Okafor,for removing hoodlums who have been inflicting injuries on their members to compel them to pay Illegal levies.

One Injured, Two Detained As Tipper Drivers Clash With LG Boys In Anambra

At least one person was injured and two others arrested as tipper drivers clashed  with boys working for the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Arinze Awogu.

The clash followed an attempted by Awogu boys to forcefully collect levies from the tipper drivers Tuesday which was resisted by the drivers.

The chairman of All Tipper Drivers Association of Anambra State, Comrade Ebuka Davidson Unakwe,  said some boys working for the Chairman of Ogbaru Local Government boss had gone to one of the places they  carry sand to enforce the collection of N200 per a trip per a day levy which his men resisted.

The chairman of Marketers of Local and Foreign Drinks Association, Ogbaru in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, a suburb of Onitsha, Mr. Ifeanyi Michael Ugwu, has vowed to flush out those trading on fake, substandard and expired drinks in their Market.

The chairman who spoke during the seventh anniversary of the association assured that with the support of Anambra State Government and security operatives in the State they would sanitise the market.

He lauded  Governor Willie Obiano, of Anambra State for his commitment to secure the lives and property of Anambra  people and the development of markets in the State.
