Rights Group Donates Solar Equipment to Anambra Police Stations

The Human Right,  Liberty Access, and Peace Defenders Foundation (HURIDE),  has donated  Standard Capacity Solar Energy Equipment to three Police Stations in Anambra State.

The Stations which benefitted from  the solar equipment which would provide them power in event of public power outage  are Fegge, Bridge head and Awada police divisions respectively.

The chairman, Board of Trustees  (BoT), Dede Uzor A. Uzor who made the donations personally said the donation was in collaboration with a businessman, Comrade Ambrose Chuba Odua,one of the patron of HURIDE.

He said the solar equipments would enable the Stations serve the public better.



He said the aim was to  ease the work of officers and men to serve the people professionally and efficiently.

He said in doing this  "they want to show that we don't just hold Police accountable but we also help to ease their work. We don't just criticise them, we don't hate them but to ensure they  do their job well to the benefit of all.

We want to  assure that we will continue to help where we can"
He said they also donated the equipment to support the hardworking and human right friendly Commissioner of Police, John Abang and the hard working PPRO SP Haruna Muhammed.

Dede Uzor said they intend to provide more of the equipment to other stations in due course, especially those stations which are human rights compliant and friendly.

Receiving the equipment, the Divisional Police Station, Fegge police Division, Onitsha,CSP Rabiu Garba, thanked HURIDE for their thoughtfulness in donating the equipment.
Garba, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP),  said the equipment would help them in their determination to eradicate criminals in the Division, assuring that it would be used for the interest of the law abiding citizens.

Bar Godwin Okeke, the DPO of Bridgehead Station, who is also a CSP, said he was impressed that the human right body can give a thought to helping Police in their work, instead of finding fault.

This in effect, he said, showed that all of them were working for the same goal to achieve crime free society for all.

The Awada DPO CSP TONY ADEYI in the same vein commended HURIDE for solidarity with the Nigerian Police.
