Ex-Delta Speaker, Okonta Set To Officially Declare For Reps......Appoints Ika South LG Boss As DG

Barr. Martins Okonta

As the 2019 general elections draws near, there are strong indications that Barr. Martins Okonta, an Ex-speaker of Delta House of Assembly and a Senior Special Adviser on Assembly Matters to Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa may have concluded plans to officially declare his intention to contest for Ika Federal House of Representatives.

An impeccable source who craved anonymity hinted that Barr. Okonta has appointed Ika South Local Government chairman, Barr. Victor Okoh to be his campaign Director General.

The source disclosed that the official declaration is slated to hold on Sunday, 13th May, 2018 at Imele Hall, Abavo, Ika south LG.

Reacting to Mr Okonta appointing Ika south council boss, Victor Okoh as his campaign DG, an Agbor indigene who gave his name as Mr. Alionye, berated Mr. Okoh, stressing that Ika south council funds would be use to fund Okonta's campaign.

"Why did Barr. Okonta appoint our chairman as his DG? It is their plans to use our council allocation to fund Barr. Okonta's campaign. Abavo people want to empty our council and we shall resist it," he added.

It would be recalled that Barr. Okonta was allegedly accused of syphoning monies meant for Abavo Cottage hospital when it was awarded to him during former governor Uduaghan's tenure before it was completed by Gov. Okowa.
