Delta State Director-General of the Bureau of Orientation, Barrister Eugene Azuka Uzum, has enjoined the internally displaced persons in camp in the state to live in harmony with themselves while in camp.
Barrister Uzum gave the advice when the sensitization team of the bureau visited the IDP camp at the Ogbe-Afor Primary School in Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area of the state.
Barrister Uzum advised the displaced persons to always obey the camp rules to ensure their harmonious stay in camp, adding that they should shun vices that could make life more difficult for not only themselves but the organisers of the camps.
The Orientation boss who spoke through the Director of Orientation and Functioning Permanent Secretary in the bureau, Mrs Stella Macaulay, advised the displaced persons not to be depressed by their present unfortunate situation, saying that it should be seen as a passing phase which would not last for too long in their lives.
He informed them that the state government had put necessary machinery on motion to ensure that they were adequately catered for while in camp, stressing, however, that for whom much was given, much should be expected and that they should reciprocate the good intentions of the state government by displaying excellent conducts throughout their stay in camp.
Responding, a displaced woman, Mrs Angela Anochili thanked the state government for the prompt provision of succour for the displaced persons in camp, promising that they would be of good character during and after their stay in camp, even as she called on the state government and other relevant stakeholders to provide more matresses, buckets, waste disposal bins and other necessary amenities to further cushion their stay in camp.
Over 1,900 internally displaced persons owing to flooding are presently being camped in the visited IDP camp in Asaba.
