DG Orientation: We'll work with NIMET forecast to mitigate on impending flood

DG Orientation, Barr Uzum
Delta State Director-General, Barrister Eugene Azuka Uzum, has reiterated the urgent need for residents living in flood-prone areas in the state to take the warning of NIMET seriously and relocate to safe grounds before the impending flood.

Barrister Uzum stated this in his office in Asaba while fielding questions from journalists.

The Orientation boss disclosed that the state government had set up a flood management committee, headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Chiedu Ebie, to mitigate the impacts of the impending flood on the citizens in the state, adding that internally displaced persons (IDP) camps would be strategically set up to cushion off the effects of the flood on residents in the state.

He called on the farmers living in the danger zone whose farm produce are ready for harvesting to do so without delay so as to forestall the possibility of losing them to the flood, adding that residents in the areas should prepare their mind so that they are not taken unaware when the flood eventually comes.
