The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) in Anambra  State has called on the administration of Governor Willie Obiano to make concerted and deliberate efforts to tackle infrastructure decay, insecurity, multiple and illegal revenue collection, unemployment, cultism  and  youth restiveness in the State even as Anambra State celebrate 28 years of it's creation  by the former Military Head of State,  Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.

The  chairman of CLO in the State, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme in a  Statement to mark 28 years of creation of Anambra State called on the State Government to redouble its efforts towards providing basic necessities of life and adequate security to the citizens to boost economic development.

Ezekwueme commended the various sacrifices and commitments made by former Governors Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Chris Ngige, Peter Obi and Obiano towards socio- economic and political development of the  state in the last 28 years.

" I commend Gen. Babangida for his unique wisdom and vision  in creating Anambra State in 1991.The present Muhammadu Buhari administration should facilitate the creation of  additional states for South East to keep it at par with other zones in tandem with the National  Constitutional Conference (CONFAB) recommendation".

He said the greatest anniversary gift Anambrarians expect from Gov. Obiano is  to commence the  immediate  palliative works on 3-3 and Ochanja Roads as well as  build Primary and Secondary Schools along 3-3, Omife,Nkwelle,Nsugbe axis to take care  of the growing young people who are yearning for education in that area of the State.

He challenged Anambrarians to make necessary and inevitable sacrifices to actualise the Anambra State of their dreams, hopes and aspiration.

He again lauded  the virtues of Dr.Ezeife for laying the foundation for the growth of Anambra State through his prudent management of public fund for public good coupled with his think home philosophy, which helped in bringing  home Anambra people in diaspora to invest.

Meanwhile, the group has asked the newly constituted Federal Executive Council  (FEC) to be "selfless, patriotic and diligent in discharge of their duties in order to improve the condition of Nigerian citizens and restore the  peoples trust, hope and respect on the government".

Ezekwueme who endorsed the statement  said "they must  promote  and provide good governance, transparency, accountability, public interest, welfare and fear of God. Passion for betterment of the country and its citizens must be their moving spirit. They must be more effective, efficient, prudent work assiduously and conscientiously and be upright in discharge of there duties".
He said for them to   endear and engrave their names in the heart of Nigerians, they must be catalyst for positive change.
He also challenged the citizens to always  hold them accountable by telling  them what they need to know .
"It is not telling them what they want to hear or even praising them when anti peoples policies are being  introduced but holistic and patriotic implementations of government policies and programmes in words, deeds and actions must be their watchword, not political rhetorics and playing to the gallery" he said.
He continued "these are  the greatest and best expectations of  Nigerians and precondition and desideratum for true  democratic governance to meet the  yearnings, hopes and aspirations of our people".
