DELTA 2015: Ijaws in Delta Calls on Gabriel Oyibode to Contest as Governor

The Ijaw ethnicity in Delta state has called on Honorable Gabriel Chukwuma Oyibode to contest as governor in the state come 2015.

In a statement sent to Delta Decides which was signed by 33 Ijaw stakeholders and was coordinated by Hon. Oyakemeaghagh Douglas,  which reads ‘’we’ve discovered a man who is a true Deltan, from the extractions of Kwale and Urhobo, a man of impeccable character and flawless integrity, a man who had positively impacted on the lives of Deltans’’.


They noted that Deltans are yet to to enjoy the amazing abundant natural resources of the state, as a few selfish Deltans have hijacked the God-given wealth the we are supposed to benefit from, adding that Deltans deserve purposeful leadership and rapid development that will transform the lives of the deltan particularly the grassroots.

In reaction to the clarion call, the philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer of Gabriel Oyibode Foundation (G O Foundation) Hon. Oyibode, said he feels honored to be seen as one who can impact on the lives of Deltans. Speaking further, he said ‘’it is only God that can give power. If Deltans and God call on me to serve, I have no power to say no. My concentration is to better the life of the downtrodden’’ he concluded.
