MOVE OUT OF FLOOD PLAINS. DG ORIENTATION PLEADS WITH DELTANS AHEAD OF NIMET FORECAST.

DG, Bureau of Orientation, Barr Uzum
ASABA - The Director General, Bureau of Orientation Delta State, Barr Azuka Eugene Uzum has appealed to Deltans living in flood prone areas to move out following forecast issued by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET).

Barr Uzum while making the appeal on Sunday 11 of August, 2019 in Asaba, explained that in line with NIMet’s prediction, so much water would be made available on the surface this period.

"Once it rains, the ground cannot absorb the water making it to runoff and resulting in so much water on the surface particularly in the areas that are adjoining the riverine locations."

"It is pertinent we alert and sensitise those in flood-prone areas that there will be flooding and they should relocate as quick as possible," he added that the Bureau of Orientation will move into the various local governments to sensitize Deltans on movement upland, sanitation etc.
