The president of the market, Chief Jude Nwankwo, who stated this in an interview said the amount which has since been disbursed to the beneficiaries was to rehabilitate some of its members whose businesses have nose-dived.
He also the cash gift to some of the members of the flourishing Market was to empower its members who are having challenges in their businesses.
The President said apart from the cash gift, they equally donated shops and land free of charge to some traders in the market.
He said in addition to the cash donation, they also have been assisting in the payment of hospital bills, provide cash donation, food, other items to less privileged people outside the markets annually.
But Chief Nwankwo said his major achievement was the restoration of peace in the market.
"I started with peace,by reconciling different factions in the market. We brought everybody into one umbrella, withdrew all the Court cases, some cases at the Police Headquarters, Abuja, even cases in Appeal Court, we withdrew all of them. We wrote a new constitution, selected members of Board of Trustees (BoT) from both new and old members. These measures brought peace to the market" he said.
Chief Nwankwo said after they have completed these steps, they went ahead to register the association with Corporate Affair Commission (CAC).
The President said another great achievement his administration recorded was the flushing out of all the criminals and hoodlums who were disturbing genuine traders in the market by selling fake and substandard products to our customers.
The President said his leadership brought another innovation to market leadership in Anambra State by buying over 1000 plots of land in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government of the State for the construction of estates for the members of the market.
He said "it has been progress and progress all through. We have done our drainage system.We have fire -fighting vehicle with personnel, courtesy of Governor Willie Obiano. We purchased another land for the expansion our Market. We have almost completed the market. We tarred the road leading to the market. We have constructed the conveniences. We have tight security in the market".
He dedcribef the members of the market as law abiding who paid their dues and levies as and when due, assuring that they would continue to meet their obligations to the Anambra State Government.
The President appealed to his members to comtinue to give them the needed support and even offer constructive criticism when necessary to serve them better.
Thanking Governor Obiano for the N10m project in their Market, he appealed to him to provide them with pedestrian bridge to save the lives of their members and customers and that of other markets around the place.
He also asked the State Government to help them instal CCTV to beef up the already tight security they have in the market.
