Tony Obuh |
Mr. Tony Obuh, a former governorship aspirant in the last election, is ready to contest for the House of Representatives. This aspiration, according to a reliable source, is gathering momentum.
Attempts to reach Mr. Obuh failed but a close associate could neither deny nor confirm the story.
The friend said, " Mr. Obuh has been under pressure to run. Obuh, who has maintained a stable political profile, may be swayed by the rising pressure on him and the clamour for a shift in representation in the federal constituency.
I am not sure he would run if the governor had not said that it will be the turn of Ika South Local Government Area to produce the next member of the Lower House. Gov Okowa, a man noted for keeping his promise, will not renege on this issue."
It would be recalled that Governor Okowa, during his campaign in 2015, appealed to the angry Ika South voters to support the incumbent so that they could replace him in 2019. Hon Victor Nwokolo, from the same Ika North East Local Government Area with Gov Okowa, is serving! a second tenure.
Beside Obuh, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, Hon Martin Okonta and Mr. Donald Onyibe, are also rumoured to be interested in the position.
