Former DTHA Members Petition Okowa Over Unpaid Allowances and severances Allowances

Three former members of the Delta State House of Assembly in the last administration have petitioned Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over their unpaid allowances and severances.

In a letter made available to this medium, which was signed by A. O. Ikolo on behalf of Austine O. Ikolo & Co., Hon. Chief Barr. Obukohwo Joseph Oshevire, Hon. Chief Julius Okpoko and Hon. Jenkins Duvie Giane who represented Ethiope East, Okpe and Ughelli North 2 constituencies respectively from 2011-2015 stated that "their salaries and allowances borne by the Delta State Government were fully paid save for the allowances for the months of April and May 2015, where a paltry sum was paid out of the total allowances for both months".

The letter further reads: "we are further informed that the severance and allowances for the members of the House and that of their aides which falls due at the end of 2011-2015 session has also not been paid up till date".

The former Honourable members wondered why Sen. Okowa who himself has received all his allowances and severance allowance from the federal government shortly after serving as Senator of the federal republic but refused to pay the former lawmakers of his state.

The former honourable members asked Governor Okowa to pay up their allowances and severances within three weeks upon the receipt of the letter as they will be left with no option than to seek legal option should he neglect/fail or refuse to pay them what is due to them.
