Warri: New Voice in Delta Governorship

Since the return of democracy in 1999, Delta State has been known as a state that is meticulous in the election of its leaders , saddled with the responsibilities of handling issues at local , state and federal levels . This is responsible for presentation of high caliber , experienced and intelligent leaders at the aforementioned arms of government which has made the state to earn an enviable reputation as one of the best developed states in the country today. It is as a result of the need to present the best that they are opposed to candidates ’ imposition by godfathers, a trend that has now flourished in the nation ’s polity.

Although at the last count no fewer than thirty governorship aspirants have declared their intention to contest, but the attempt to produce the best for the leadership of the state has led to a deep search by the people for the right candidate. Among those presently considered to foot the bill is a man considered to represent the true yearnings of the people of Delta State –a young and humble medical doctor and seasoned administrator.

Since the discovery of this man, a number of Deltans have taken it upon themselves to project his political ambitions and the things he has in store for the good people of Delta State. Dr . Warri is not only seen as a fearless man, but also a visionary leader with tangible proof of his stewardship in public office.

In all the recent happenings in various political zones in Delta State , he is the only one who appears to stand out from the midst of controversies . Dr . Warri had been going about in peaceful consultation with vibrant vision and programme for his people . He is believed to be the kind of leader that does not represent a self - serving mission in the state . The only thing that seem to be pushing Dr . Warri in his quest to become the next governor of Delta State is his passion for job creation , provision of state - wide infrastructure development, provision of adequate and affordable healthcare services , adequate security and socio-economic development.

Dr Warri is a politician that is devoid of the current politics of acrimony and bitterness that is fast growing among the political class in the state . Some Deltans claim that Dr . Warri represents a new dawn in Delta State politics, a change that is real and everyone can relate with .

According to a supporter who would not want to be named , “ Dr . Warri is the fresh breathe we have been waiting for . ”

He continued : “ He has not paraded himself like others who claim to have been anointed from above . He has not only found favour in the sight of God for his numerous humanitarian assignments in the Niger Delta Region and Nigeria at large , but has also found favour in the sight of his supporters and political admirers. Indeed, this is a worthy opportunity for everyone to look into what Dr Andrew Warri has to offer. He is a man that speaks and represents peace in all fronts . Dr Warri is not only loved by all, it is equally believed in some quarters as a young man in whom Mr. President may also cherish because of his antecedents and humble disposition . ”

Observers in the state note that having understudied the current political maneouvre in Delta State , the next governor of the state should be made to be comfortable with the people . This includes all political gladiators in the state .

The following clearly describes what Dr Warri represents, what he is capable of doing and what he has done: he is from a humble beginning and background ; his zeal is to serve humanity through medical programmes ; he has donated over 40 feet Container load of Medical equipment worth over N1 billion to DESOPADEC for onward distribution to hospitals and health centers across the Niger Delta; he has no political sin or political enemies ; he does not belong to any political bloc , and is the consensus
candidate in the midst of a brewing political controversy .

There are some analysts who also believe that Dr . Warri is distanced from tribal and zonal politics, and that his leadership style cuts across the state .

According to them , his logo is pan - Delta , and he is seen to have a strong belief in himself and his ability to deliver .

Moreover , Dr . Warri is touted as a neutral candidate in the ethnic politics of the state , being not produced by any tribe ,zone or imposed by a godfather on the people.
