Members of Delta Decides, a registered grass root
socio-political pressure group on Monday,
May 19, 2014 paid a courtesy visit to the Dein of Agbor, Dr.
Benjamin Ikenchukwu-Keagboekwuzi I at his palace, Agbor.
According to the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the group,
Mr. Egbonimali Shedrack, they were at the palace to inform the royal father of
their activities spanning through out the state and also to receive a royal
blessing from our first class traditional ruler. He said the group was formed
to press for good and positive representation from our political reps while
also shopping for credible and acceptable candidate for the 2015 elections and
beyond in different political offices across the state and present such
candidates to Deltans.
Speaking further, Mr. Egbonimali said the group which is
also saddled with the responsibility of sensitizing the populace on the need to
vote for credible candidates in the 2015 general elections in the state and not
failed politicians.
“This we hope to achieve through intensive advocacy,
sensitization, and awareness campaigns across the twenty-five local government
areas in the sate.”
“We are sick and tired of failed politicians in our state
hence, as progressives, we have agreed to help salvage our state from the hands
of these greedy politicians who have held us down.”
Speaking also, the coordinator and secretary of the group,
Mr. Darlington Okonma and Lady Flora Dafe, said Delta Decides is an independent
group that is out to support good governance in Delta state.
“Delta Decides, is an independent group. It is not owned or
sponsored by any politician neither we are supporting a particular candidate.
All we are after is how to elect credible candidates that will better the lives
of Deltans in next year’s general election.”
Responding on behalf of the palace, the Ojeagbe of Agbor
kingdom, Chief Onuwa thanked the members of the group for their visit, assuring
them that the palace will always support any meaningful efforts towards
sustainable growth and development in the state. He advised them not allow
their vision to be defeated by anybody.
