RE: RISING BEYOND BARS.....The pathetic story of a Delta man in prison.

Prince Harrison

Barr. Mary Agbajoh
AN INSIDER'S ACCOUNT.:

During further investigation into this case, ACW-News contacted some individuals that have one thing or the other to do with it. Below is our findings :

My Name is.Inspector..........(withheld for security reasons), a serving Policeman at Legal department of State C.I.D Panti Yaba Lagos and assigned to DPP Lagos state. As the state Laison Officer, am in charge of every criminal case-files coming into DPP Lagos for legal advice from all over the state both from SARS Ikeja where Harrison was detained, Zone 2 Command Hq and even from FCID Alagbon between 2004 and 2010 before when i went to Sudan for Peacekeeping Operation.
When i had the sympathetic story of Harrison, like every other Delta Indigene i felt concerned, felt worried of the fact for a promising young man like him and being that am a police officer serving in Lagos and being closer to SARS i went to SARS to search for him , but unfortunately he has been charged to court and remanded n Kirikiri Medium Prison. The following Saturday i proceeded to the Prisons to see him and after seeing and discussing with him he gave me the insight of the Magistrate court 27 Ikeja where the matter is as at then. I proceeded to the court and met the Prosecutor, also a Police officer who is not only a friend but also from Legal Department of SCID too.

We had a chat over the matter and he told me that the file is with the DPP Lagos state, an office i headed for 7yrs. With my contact I went to DPP and behold the file was brought to me and after going through the file, it was late for me to facilitate or do some underground work as a son of the soil because the Legal Advice had been signed about to be despatched to the court that Harrison Gwamnishu has a case to Answer. Reason being that in the statement in the case-file was a confessional statement made by Harrison ,though, he claimed to have made it under duress. There was also another additional statement he made denying all the allegations but that very one was not attached and base on the available statement of the accused the DPP has to conclude and advice that he has a case to answer.
All this my movement was with Harrisons Lawyer, a guy from Ogwashi-uku. Now when the Legal Advice go to the Court i was made to understand that the court has to strike out the matter for lack of jurisdiction, now what is baffling me is that he was supposed to have been released but I don't know the evil forces behind the release of the boy, instead he was transferred to Delta Prison(Ogwashi Uku). I have formally made arrangement to see the Attorney- General and Commisioner of Justice Lagos state Mr Ade Ipaye, or even the P.S Judicial Service Commission Lagos state over the matter who are my close friends but because of my tight-schedule I have not done that. I have done similar things to Ishaya Bamayi and Major Hamza Mustapha. Now this is my own Anioma Brother ,so why not? I don't live in Delta-State and I don't know how efficient and effective their Judicial system is, if not, I advice ACW should petition the Ag and Commission of Justice Delta state to bring this Issue before him and see his reactions.
ACW-News contacted the father of Harrison as well as the principal accused ,one Mr Bassey Inyang who was alleged to have made the statement that implicated Prince Harrison. In an open confession to ACW-News, Mr Bassey inyang explained that he had never met Prince Harrison before until in Kirikiri prison. He explained that he had told the police that their contact person for the robbery was one Harrison who approached him and that when Prince Harrison was brought to him, he told the police that it was not him but that the police could use the said Harrison's number in his phone to track him . Unfortunately, the police was not interested as having Prince Harrison an ex staff of the victim was enough easier task. During investigation, ACW-News found out that it was all a case of mistaken identity as the Harrison meant by Bassey Inyang was another Harrison Njoku who also had worked for the victim. It is further revealed that Prince Harrison was arrested based on the information given out to the detectives by Barr Mary Agbajoh who it was believed was angry over the manner Prince Harrison left his job with her. Furthermore, the new boss of Prince Harrison one Mr Akpomimie was said to have lied against Prince Harrison by claiming that he stole his phone. It was based on this little malicious information from these two former principal bosses of Prince Harrison that the police concluded that he was involved and had therefore tortured him to a point where he had to admit to the crime.
Speaking to ACW-News, Mr Augustine Gwamnishu, father of Harrison explained how much efforts they have put into securing the release of his son and how their lawyer, Barr Chris Esemezie had written petitions to appropriate quarters .Barr Esemezie in his own account narrated all efforts he had put into the case and how he had had to petition zone 5 Benin city when it seemed like the state commissioner of police was not interested in the case. He also informs of a positive response from Benin and how he hopes to keep ACW-News informed after his visit to Benin.
Speaking to ACW-News, the state commissioner of police, Mr Ike Aduba explained that since the matter is in court that there is nothing he can do. When reminded that the onus of the petition by the accused lawyer was on unfair investigation by the police in Lagos and the call for a re-investigation by the police as a result of evidences on ground, the gallant police officer made it clear to ACW-News that he cannot get himself involved in it. He rather advised that the lawyer should get the DPP to write the police and asked for a re-investigation if they no longer find the case-file with them relevant to the case. The CP maintained that it is the DPP that can prove to the court that there is no case for the accused to answer.
As it appears, going through zone 5 Headquarters Benin City appears the best option, however, what is baffling about the case is the reason why a crime that was committed in Delta state against a Delta state govt official has to be investigated and tried in Lagos state. This is where crime observers are of the opinion that the victim,Barr Mary Agbajoh may have contributed to the reason for such ,knowing fully well that zone 5 Benin city would have been an ideal place to transfer the case to .
During investigation, it was also discovered that Barr Mary Agbajoh, the SA to Governor Uduaghan and media cordinator for Orubebe campaign organisation, unlike what she told ACW-News at first, that she is in a good position to set the young man free. It is recalled that during a chat with ACW-News, the SA explained that what the accused needed to do is to get his people and go to the court and sign an undertaken against anything happening to her after his release. The facts on hand seem to suggest that the accused(Harrison and Bassey) are kept in detention based on the status of their victim and it is believed that should Barr Agbajoh goes to the Commissioner of Police to request that Prince Harrison is released that it will be effected as it seems obvious to all parties that Prince Harrison was not involved but the fear of Barr Agbajoh that due to the torture and other punishment the accused might want to have a revenge on her. We shall keep working closely with those directly involved in the case to see that justice is done.

On this note, we want to use this medium to call on our sister Barr May Oyibocha Agbajoh to kindly conclude the good work she has started by going to the Commisioner of police to start the process of setting the poor young man free. Having spent almost 3 years in custody over an offence it seems now he did not commit is enough punishment.
