Rt. Hon Leonard Ogor Okuweh |
The rumour has been going round for quite sometime now and as much as we try to waive it off, it keeps re-echoing. We are not saying that there is an element of truth in it neither are we saying that there is no iota of truth in it but we just can't keep it as it is our duty to sensitize the Delta electorates as the 2015 general election draws near.
The rumour mill has it that Hon.
Leonard Okuweh Ogor, who is presently on his
3rd term in office is still interested in
the lower house of the National Assembly.
According to a source who
is very close to the lawmaker, the PDP deputy house leader who represents Isoko
constituency at the house of representatives
loves serving his people as he has been
doing in the past 11 years and still going to
do same in the remaining one year, therefore,
he sees it as an obligation on his constituents
to support his return to the lower house for
a record 4th time.
The report has it that Hon Leo Ogor is said to be eyeing the Speakership position of the House of Reps as according to his calculation, the next dispensation starting from 2015 will have the position of the speaker of the house zoned to the South South which places him in an advantageous position to clinch that post. What this means however, is that he is hoping to run again for same position so as to enable him with the opportunity of going for the Speakership in 2015.
If this rumour is true, it therefore means that Hon Ogor maybe aligning with the north as it is
certain that the speakership position could only be zoned to the south south if
a northern president emerges.
