DELTA DECIDES reliably gathered that following the dust raised by the reckless comment, the governor spoke with the embattled SSG, who was reported to have told the governor that the views he expressed were supposed to be “off camera” at his residence after a formal briefing.
The governor, who had been cautioning against overheating the polity, was also said to have reached out to some notable party leaders in the state, including the state Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Chief Nwaoboshi, asking for a ceasefire on the issue to avoid it degenerating.
Meanwhile, a pressure group, PDP Delta Mandate comprising of members from the three senatorial districts of the state has also called for cease fire, cautioning against using inflammatory statements as 2015 draws nearer. Addressing newsmen in Asaba, yesterday, the National President of the group, Chief Isaac Anwuzia, said “I want to appeal to members of PDP that that statement quoted to have been said by the SSG is not what PDP stands for.”
