It was a moment of relief as the Speaker, Delta State house of Assembly splashed palliative items to the good people of Okpe Local Government Area of the State.
The Vibrant speaker who distributed the palliative items to the good of Okpe local government area of the delta yesterday April 23 2020 told news men that the items were his contribution to his God fearing and law abiding people.
The palliative items which included Bags of rice, beans and other food items got round the various wards of the local government.
Delta decides reliably gathered that, each ward of the local government got at least 100 bags of rice and 100 bags of beans with special emphasis on ward three and ward ten of the local government which got additional 50bags each because of their size to cushion the effect of the stay at home order.
Hon. Sheriff further disclosed that the food items where to add to the items distributed by the Delta State Government through the Food Bank across the state
Recall also that his Foundation had also given to the constituents a total of 1000 bags of 10kg rice and beans directly to some churches and other groups in the local government to share to the vulnerable.
His words," My people must not be allowed to pass through the pangs of this virulent pandemic ravaging the world."
The Speaker who spoke at length with our reporters applauded the State Governor for his proactive steps taken to ameliorate the spread of the pandemic urging deltans to remain steadfast and abide by the order of stay at home to tame the spread.
"The matter would have been worse if not for the timely steps taken by the governor and other sectors of government".
He promised to do more as time goes on.
