Asaba- The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Patrick Ukah, his counterpart Charles Aniagwu who heads Information and the Director General, Orientation Bureau, Barrister Uzum Eugene, yesterday 5th March 2020 received the Governors of South South Geopolitical zone at Asaba International Airport.
The governors came to meet with their chairman, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.
The meeting which was not unconnected with the rising menace of insecurity in the country and how to curb it especially in the south south region as well as the clamour for the oil producing State to fully implement the 13 percent oil derivation which the Chairman noted has not been implemented for a long time.
The Forum which spoke through the Chairman also noted that the state Governors agreed to resuscitate the (BRACED) commission which was created by their previous colleagues to promote regional economic activities in the zone.
In furtherance of their commitment to curtail the spread of Lassa Fever, and prevent the dreaded Coronavirus, the Governors agreed that their health commissioner would meet so they will work together.
Report available has it also that all the six Governors were present apart from Governor Ben Ayade but was fully represented by his Deputy Governor, Professor Ivara Esu.
