Senator Peter Nwaoboshi |
In his speech, High Chief Opone (PG NDOKWA NEKU) expressed his deep appreciation to the Committee and further eulogized Senator Peter Nwaoboshi for deeming it fit to wipe away the tears of Ndokwa nation via sponsoring of the Bill. He described Ndokwa nation and her people as very peaceful, hardworking and always ready to receive people from any part of the world. He further described Ndokwa nation as the second largest ethnic group in Delta State behind the Urhobo ethnic group even as he submitted that most of government's presence in the region including the Nigerian Police formation as well as the prison were all built before the country gained her independence from Britain.
Making a case for the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic in Kwale, the soft-spoken PG went ahead to inform the audience that Ndokwa nation has the largest deposit of gas in the whole of Africa and has contributed immensely to the economic advancement of Nigeria from time immemorial and at a time agitators were threatening the peace of the country, Ndokwa people remained peaceful which reflected the true nature of her citizens. He therefore prayed the Senator Jibrin-led Committee to do everything possible for the laudable project to come to fruition owing to the fact that the people of Ndokwa already has a land donated for the project at a very strategic and unique environment upon which the institution would thrive. After all, they're ready to receive Nigeria and the world at large once the project is completed.
Speaking further on the necessity of the project, Hon. Ossai N. Ossai representing Ukwuani/Ndokwa Federal Constituency in the House Of Representatives thanked Senator Peter Nwaoboshi immensely for bringing the institution to the people of Ndokwa nation and stated emphatically that Senator Nwaoboshi, through his numerous projects across Ndokwa nation and with the Bill for the establishment of a higher institution in the region, has won the hearts of all Ndokwa sons and daughters. He described Ndokwa nation as extremely unique, peaceful, tolerating and ready to host the country and the world upon the completion of the project subject to its approval by the Senate and the House Of Reps even though he expressed utmost optimism about the project coming to fruition.

Additionally, Senator Sam Egwu (Ebonyi) while speaking for the Bill supported the establishment of the institution. The former governor of Ebonyi State eulogized Senator Peter Nwaoboshi for being an equity man because he could have sited the project in his zone. He equally spoke about his relationship with Senator Peter Nwaoboshi from many decades ago and most importantly, he is rooting for the Bill because we are his brothers and sister from across the Niger.
The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Barau I. Jibrin while drawing the curtain on the Public Hearing described Senator Peter Nwaoboshi as one of the most important Senators in the 8th Assembly and described the Bill for the establishment of the institution as 'uncommon gesture' in the present Nigerian politics. He eulogized Senator Peter Nwaoboshi for not being a selfish man but rather a man who believes in equity, justice and fairness. Senator Jibrin further submitted that Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is a man that cannot be denied anything in the Senate because irrespective of political affiliation, he has remained a friend to everyone. Senator Jibrin finally congratulated Delta North people for having the calibre of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi who goes to every length in ensuring his people are always carried along in the politics of National Assembly.
At the end of the Public Hearing, the entourage from Ndokwa nation couldn't contain their joy and excitement as chants of `Oshimili 1` `Aguwajiejemba 1` filled the air of the National Assembly.
But one thing is certain.
Ndokwa and the whole Anioma nation should prepare their homes in welcoming Nigeria and the world because the project is already done and dusted.
We believe.
Thank you Senator Peter Nwaoboshi for this wonderful feat. You have shown that you have no rival. Come 2019, Ndokwa people and the whole of Delta North will send you back to the National Assembly.
