More aspirants exonerate selves from “14 Abuja Aspirants ”
More aspirants whose signatures were appended on the communiqué of the November 14 meeting of the “14 Abuja PDP Aspirants” held at the Asokoro residence of elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, have continued to exonerate themselves from being signatory of the communiqué.
Recent among the aspirants is Chief David Edevbie who was said to have left the meeting midway into its commencement.
Unlike other aspirants, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon Victor Ochei, Prof Sylvester Monye and others whose signatures were appended, the email address for Chief Edevbie was used in place of his signature like Hon. Elumelu whose name was also used in place of his signature.
Though some of the aspirants have alleged that they didn’t authorize the appendage of their signature on the communiqué, Prof Monye in a release while reacting to an allegation of forging the signature of Ndudi Elumelu on the communiqué, said the house (members of the meeting present including Chief E.K Clark who was the host and presided over the meeting) resolved to “sign” on behalf of the aspirants who had earlier participated in the meeting the previous day.
When this reporter contacted Chief Edevbie to get clarification on how his signature appeared in the communiqué, Chief Edevbie said; “ Edevbie@usa.net is my email address and not my signature, I leave you to draw your conclusion on that. ”
However, a source confided in this reporter that Edevbie who was earlier present at the meeting, tactically excused himself out of the gathering with the excuse of having another engagement.
The source closed to Chief Clark said; “Due to the stringent position the aspirants were taking against the former and present Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori and Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, he excused himself out the meeting.”
However, as it stands, it is not certain if the aggrieved members are seeking legal redress as regards the forgery of their signatures, but political pundits in the State have describe the move by the “14 Abuja Aspirants” as being criminal and over ambitious at all cost to become Governor of the State.
