Breaking: Saraki Raises Alarm Over Midnight Meeting Between DSS DG, Senators

The President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has raised the alarm over an alleged midnight meeting between the Director General of the Department of State Services, Lawal Daura, and about 30 senators.

The meeting, said to be on at about 12:21am on Tuesday, came on a day Saraki’s office announced the emergency reconvening of the leadership of the National Assembly for consideration of urgent national issues.
The Senate and the House of Representatives had on July 24, 2018 proceeded on recess, announcing September 26, 2018 as resumption date.

8 APC Lawmakers Backed By Police Take Over Benue Assembly, To Impeach Gov. Ortom

Looks like Nigeria's democracy will be ridiculed by the present police authorities in Abuja with the way they are 'acting'. A detachment of armed mobile policemen, believed to have been drawn from Abuja, have reportedly connived with minority lawmakers to take over Benue House of Assembly complex, in a bid to impeach the governor.

An impeachment notice has been served to the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, by 8 out of 30 lawmakers in the state's House of Assembly who took over the premises of the state parliament with the support of the police.

Members of the Plateau State House of Assembly have impeached their speaker, Mr Peter Azi.

Mr Azi was impeached by the lawmakers who elected Joshua Madaki as their new Speaker during Wednesday’s plenary in Jos, the state capital.

The impeachment followed a motion on a vote of no confidence moved by the lawmaker representing Barkin Ladi constituency, Mr Peter Gyendeng.
