Group Set To Mobilize 3 Million Man Match Against Okorocha's Plot To Impeach Deputy

The civil and pro-democracy groups in  South East  are mobilising the citizens of Imo State and lovers of democracy in Nigeria to stage a three million -man match against Governor Rochas Okorocha if the State over his planned impeachment of his deputy, Prince Eze Madumere.

The national publicity secretary, Campaign for Democracy (CD), Dede Uzor A. Uzor, said it will hold on August 25, 2018 at Owerri, the Imo State capital

In a meeting held in Owerri CD condemned in a very strong words the plot by Okorocha with the Imo State House of Assembly to impeach Madumere.

The statement which came after the meeting of South East CD, attended by the chairmen of five South East States,  said the plot to remove the deputy governor was unacceptable to every civilised mind and Ndigbo.

They said Okorocha should be celebrated with an award as the Governor who has impeached his deputy twice in Nigeria if he succeeds this time around.

But CD said the plot will fail this time because his schemings to impose his Son-in-law on the people as the Governor of Imo State  and at the same time goes to Senate does  not only amount to political intimidation but a slap on Imo people which should not be allowed to happen.

They said in their statement " that the Governor's earlier plan to complete installation of medical equipment to all 27 general hospitals  in imo State has failed because of his lack of focus and direction".

They condemned the poor quality of jobs done on  road construction in the State by Okorocha, lamenting that the roads have been washed away within three months of the completion.

CD frowned at the unpatriotic activities of members of Imo State House of Assembly, describing them  as number stamps, whose activities have eroded democratic principles.

"The Speaker of Imo State House of  Assembly should tell Imolites  the laws they enacted to improve the welfare of the citizens of the State. This plot to impeach the deputy will collapse because he has not committed any impeachable offence. He only disagreed with the Governor in his choice off his Son-in-law as his successor, which does not amount to an impeachable offence"CD said.

Madumere, they contended,  has every right to freely hold his political views as enshrined in our extant laws.

"Therefore we urge Imolite to embark on a massive protest against this plot to ridicule Imo State again by impeaching the deputy governor. We have set out August 15, 2018 for massive 3 millon -man match  against Okorocha on his plot to impeach his deputy"said CD.
