No doubt that before the inception of this administration, the Directorate of Orientation existed only on paper and imaginations of Deltans. It was practically a dead sector that one could be seeing Barr. EA Uzum as disadvantaged to be appointed the SSA to the Governor on Orientation and subsequently executive assistant to the Governor, Directorate of Orientation.
Most spectators watched keenly to hear the Okowability proginator cry out in frustration but no, he simply disappointed them all and made his principal proud.
He picked up the Orientation Directorate, cleaned it up, gave it a lease of life and made it a focal Directorate of this administration.
He started by rebranding the Orientation staffs , redefined the duties and roles of the Directorate in actualizing the S.M.A.R.T agenda.
He did set up a working team and built team spirit.
Having rebranded the Orientation Directorate to serve as a mechanism for bringing the Government closer to the people and putting the government and her citizen on the same page, he set out to work
by compiling a data base of mobile contacts of Delta residents and weekly update the people through sms on the activities and works of the Government.
Barr Uzum then stepped ahead to initiate weekly talk shows on local televisions and radio to keep Deltans abreast on the workings of Government. (Wetin govament dey do)
He stepped in to reorganize, harmonoze and optimize the state websites to ensure that the state is well represented on the outside and enhance availability of informations about the S.M.A.R.T government.
The first program he organized was called policies of prosperity. He brought a section of the electorate to Govt house warri where he gave Orientation, explained Govt policies ahead of Governance. It was first of its kind in modern Delta.
Uzum saw the need for Government to get involved in the upbringing of a child and without hesitation took the campaign and sensitization against cultist and drug abuse (which is a source of concern in recent times) to Secondary Schools across the state.
This campaign which enjoyed the commendation of many did not make him to loose focus.
Then the mother of all campaigns, sensitization on voters apathy, Uzum is at it again having taken voters sensitization across institutions of higher learning across the state, has taken the voters sensitization campaign to villages and markets. In a recent press conference, Barr Uzum has informed Deltans that the Directorate will as well do church to church and others significant places.
Now there is no gainsaying that the Directorate of Orientation is a place where everyone wants to be part of.
It is now a critical part of the S.M.A.R.T agenda.
Reward of good work they say is more work, we pray that Senator Dr. I.A Okowa will appreciate him with more work.
