RE: ALLEGATION OF FORGED SIGNATURE ON A COMMUNIQUE PRODUCED AND SIGNED BY DELTA STATE GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRANTS AFTER THEIR MEETING ON TUESDAY, 11TH NOVEMBER, 2014
Our attention has been drawn to an online publication, Delta Decide, 2015 alleging that Prof. Sylvester Monye, MFR, a Delta State Governorship aspirant forged the signature of Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, another Governorship aspirant, on a communique issued after their meeting.
We want to make it categorically clear that Professor Monye did not sign the communique on behalf of either Ndudi Elumelu or any other aspirant.
Our understanding of what transpired was that after the meeting which Hon. Ndudi Elumelu attended at Chief E. K. Clark’s Asokoro home, a communique was produced to reflect what was discussed and agreed, at the said meeting.
Aspirants who attended the meeting reconvened at Chief E. K. Clark’s home the following morning to review, approve and sign the communique before issuing same to the media.
It is noteworthy that when Chief E. K. Clark realized that Hon. Ndudi Elumelu was not available to sign the communique, he promptly called him to ascertain his whereabout. Hon. Elumelu informed Chief E. K. Clark that he had to travel early that morning to Delta State, to receive the Consul General of the United States who was visiting him at his country home in Delta.
He requested that Chief E. K. Clark should ask Prof. Monye to sign the communique, on his behalf, a request Prof. Sylvester Monye FLATLY DECLINED.
However, the house resolved to use his hand written name from the attendance register as an evidence of his participation in the meeting where the content of the communique was agreed.
It is therefore, inconceivable that anyone can assume misconstrue a request that was FLATLY REJECTED as an act actually carried out.
Arising from the foregoing, the Sylvester Monye Campaign Organisation hereby demands a retraction of this publication by the publishers of Delta Decides 2015 with an apology within 24 hours or face legal action.
