VERIZON TO BUY OVER YAHOO WITH $4.8BN

Yahoo’s future may be decided on Monday following reports that the company will be acquired by Verizon Communications in a $4.8 billion deal.

Reported by Bloomberg citing a source with direct knowledge, the agreement is said to be announced before the markets open and will drastically change the course of Yahoo’s future, one that has been wrought with failed turnaround attempts by multiple leaders. Verizon was said to have won the bid amid a battle among numerous competitors including private equity firm TPG, a group led by Quicken Loans’ Dan Gilbert, and even AT&T.

Paying $4.8 billion for Yahoo is slightly more than what Verizon paid for AOL a year ago and the relationship is aimed at strengthening the telecommunication company’s advertising and content offerings. Yahoo’s Brightroll technology will likely be one of the focal points of this deal as well as perhaps elements from the company’s Maven’s product.

Final proposals by bidders interested in Yahoo were scheduled to be submitted last week. During the company’s earnings call, chief executive Marissa Mayer declined to announce a deal, instead saying the board intends to “deliver shareholder value with this process.” Additionally, the “independent strategic review committee continues to manage this effort and we’re making great process.”

Will this signal the end for Mayer’s tenure as CEO? Reports suggest that she’s on her way out and shareholders even expressed their disapproval at Yahoo’s last annual meeting. But should she walk away, it’s estimated that she’ll take with her a $55 million severance package.

Yahoo first opened up bids on itself in February as part of an “aggressive strategic plan” put forth by the board amid fighting by activist shareholders. While Mayer’s team implemented cost cutting measures, including laying off 15 percent of its workforce, it was all done to make itself leaner and more appealing to potential suitors. Verizon had always been considered a front-runner for the move, even utilizing AOL CEO Tim Armstrong to woo the company.

But while Verizon would own Yahoo, it would only be its core business. Whoever is left in charge at the company will be the caretaker of a 35.5 percent stake in Yahoo Japan and a 15 percent holding in Alibaba.

DELTA SPEAKER'S AIDE, OBIERRI IS A BLACKMAILER - REED

The publisher of DrumBeat News, an online news medium, Elsie Ijorogu Reed has reacted to allegation made against her by Henry Obieriri, a media aide to the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, describing the aide as a blackmailer.

It would be recalled that Mr Obieriri had called the publisher a political jobber after her news site published a story about his boss, Monday Igbuya.

Ms Reed in a statement accused Obieriri of blackmailing his principals in order to get money.

She said; ''I am aware that Henry Obieriri blackmailed his past and present principals by sending out stories to other bloggers to publish so that they would release money to him to reply and pay other journalists''.

''He should not use me to play his blackmailing games because I would fight back legally''. Maybe he is not aware that he is using the Speaker's office to play dirty; meaning that office is liable for slander'',  she said.

The media guru who also said she would not bow to blackmail, promised to fight back not with lies but with facts and evidence. She disclosed that anytime an article is published against his boss Igbuya, that hey tried to tarnish her name.

''I would continue to carry stories without fear of intimidation. I would not bow to blackmail because it seems anytime an article is published against his boss Igbuya they try to tarnish my name'', she added.

''BEWARE OF FAKE MEN OF GOD''....---Pastor Anita Oyakhilome Cries Out

Pastor Anita

When people talk about winning souls these days, I feel absolutely concerned for the so-called souls. It looks to me like a lion on a breakfast mission, in search for his hunt; he hides behind the grass for an unwise lamb that would wander away from the herd in search of fresh grass. This will be an easy catch and good feast for the lion’s plate.

When I hear these people talk about winning souls, I feel sorry for the souls who have no idea of what they are getting into. It sometimes sounds to me like blood-thirsty people desperate to count the number of innocent, ignorant people who will give their blood to be sucked. These souls are classified, as the needy, can undoubtedly be gullible in their search for solutions and wanting to identify or belong to a community.

These souls are caught when they are most vulnerable maybe they have lost a loved one, in a bad relationship with their parents or family, in need of healing or desperate for a change. At this point they will give anything and do anything without a second thought.

When caught by the wrong hands, they will start running in a wheel. Initially, the souls will be treated with some measure of care, so they do not detach. This will be short lived to prepare them to be trained as unconscious servants. Once the attachment is built, they would start attending endless meetings till they begin to be unavailable for their loved ones and disassociate from their families over time.
