AGBOR SHOOTING: VICTIM MAKES U-TURN AFTER ALLEGED INDUCEMENT

The Victim, Sunny Okonye in his pool of blood

Senator Okowa

Barely one month after he was shot several times by a killer squad, one allegedly sponsored by the senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly, Mr. Sunny Okonye, an Agbor-based Hotelier, has made a U-turn to exonerate Senator Ifeanyi Okowa of sponsorship of a killer squad that shot him.

It was a dispute, or misunderstanding, between Mr. Sunny Okonye, and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for reportedly burning down one of Okowa’s 2015 governorship billboards at Agbor Delta Decides has learnt.

Okonye, owner of the Sunny Guest House, in Boji Boji-Agbor, the Ika South local government area of Delta state, had made the legal U-turn Sunday. The U-Turn came about during a press briefing in Asaba, where he confessed that he was actually “brainwashed” by the caretaker committee chairman of Ika South, Engr. Andrew Obiazi and the former presidential adviser, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh. The ‘brainwashing’ Okonye said was geared to implicate Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and his aides, shortly after the incident in which he was shot several times with a pump action gun at close range.

AN APPEAL/CLARON CALL FOR PAYMENT

OPEN LETTER TO:
His Excellency,
Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan OON,
Executive Governor,
Delta State.

Your Excellency,
POST GRADUATE SCHOLASHIP AWARD IN DELTA STATE: AN APPEAL/CLARON CALL FOR PAYMENT
Your administration introduced various competitive and merit based schemes for the tertiary students in form of different  kinds of scholarship programmes; the first class students scholarship, scheme, the local post Graduate scholarship scheme(PH.D),foreign scholarship scheme and the standardization of the under graduate scheme to the various kinds of institution within and outside the country.

This laudable initiative hinged on the three point agenda of the your administration in no small way brought succor, open doors for the less privilege, uplifted homes ,discovered exceptional talent, enhanced standard and brought about human capital development across the state human resources.

However, it is sad to observe that instead of helping the average Deltan, the scheme had brought about untold hardship in various ways. Some students lost their lives in far away United kingdom due to lack of fees. Some had to abandon their studies and went into other pursuit that could sustain them while the programme lasted. The local post Graduate students whose release of N300,000 per session for a period of three (3) years only got the first years’ in 2011 and up-till now no kobo had come in. A situation that have left some of us out of the programme because no Nigerian University would allow a final thesis for defense if no evidence of complete payment of school fees. Remember that it keeps accumulating by the year for these students.

The Chairman of Delta State Scholarship Board, Monsignor Buchi Aninye and his executives have made spirited effort but to no avail since the past three years (2012-2014).

Your Excellency, we are using this medium to bring this matter of urgent public  attention to your notice, appealing that you consider and direct the release of the grants to keep the enviable image of your administration, policy position and end of your tenure slogan  ‘’To finish strong’ in the right perspective because the finger of God is working .

Thank you in anticipation.
